ACCIDENT — The Floor Store LLC near Keyser’s Ridge is now under new ownership.

Bradley Maust and Sonny Miller are the owners of Mossy Horn Construction, a local company specializing in new builds and remodeling.

The partners saw an opportunity to grow their platform by expanding into retail business.

In January, they purchased The Floor Store from Paul Durst and have plans of making this property into a one-stop shop for all types of remodeling or new build needs.

According to Sam Frantz, general manager, The Floor Store has been in business since the early 1990s, originally starting in Grantsville. The previous owner moved his operations to the current location at Keysers Ridge 17 years ago.

“Paul has always specialized in the finest materials and knowledgeable installations for all your flooring needs,” Maust said. “Our goal as the new owners is to continue that legacy while expanding our reach to service more people while maintaining quality as our focal point.”

Frantz noted that he will also serve customers along with Durst. He has a background in business management, retail and customer service. He graduated from Frostburg State University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and marketing and also earned an associate degree in business management from Garrett College in 2010.

During the closure because of the pandemic, the store’s entire showroom was renovated from top to bottom.

“The freshly designed remodel includes a more open floor plan, more displays, raised ceilings, modern finishes and ADA-compliant floor plan, a kids’ play area and a free coffee bar to enjoy while customers browse,” Frantz said.

According to Maust and Miller, the store will continue to specialize in the highest quality of fine flooring products, including carpet, tile, natural stone, laminate, luxury vinyl plank, luxury vinyl tile, engineered hardwood, and 3/4-inch hardwood.

In addition, materials will be supplied, including ledgestone, backsplash, concrete countertop options, accent wall options, shower waterproofing solutions and floor heating solutions.

“Many of the high-quality practices will remain the same, with a focus on quality without compromise,” Frantz said. “We have competitive pricing on quality value lines all the way up to premium finishes. Our goal is to service the tri-state area and to establish ourselves with a customer-first attitude in serving the community’s needs.”

The new owners said they plan to continue to grow and expand while focusing first on “customer experience, customer satisfaction and education and providing professional experience with professional solutions, all while creating a family- friendly atmosphere.”

Maust noted that he has been a resident of Garrett County all his life. He and his wife Jessica live in Bittinger and have four children ranging in age from 6 to 14.

Maust has worked in construction since he was 18 years old and has been in the industry for 18 years. He started Mossy Horn Construction in 2004.

He took a break from that business and worked for Beitzel Corp. from 2011 to 2018, at which time he decided to reopen Mossy Horn Construction in Spring 2018.

Miller is a lifetime resident of Grantsville. He and his wife Alissa have three children ranging in age from 9 to 14.

He has worked in the construction industry for 29 years. He worked at Casselman Lumber and ran his own business from 2000-06. From 2007-18, he worked as a project manager for Daystar Builders and Braddock Construction.

The Floor Store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with other times available by appointment.

It is located at 36116 Garrett Highway, Accident. More information can be found on the business Facebook page or www.floorstoremd.com.
